10,000 solar street lights over 10 km beach road in Vizag

In what can be said a piece of good news to the city of Visakhapatnam, GVMC is in the process of setting up 10,000 solar street lights on the beach road covering 10 km from the fishing harbour junction to Visalakshinagar beach. The areas to come under solar street lighting include RK Beach, Kursura Submariine Museum, The Park Road Junction, VMRDA Park, Tenneti Park and Appughar.

Once it materializes, Vizag will be the first city with the highest number of solar street lamps and it will contribute to environmental protection in its own way. Towards this initiative, the electrical wing of the GVMC is preparing a detailed project report and will submit it before the GVMC council members for approval. The project was envisaged in the past, but due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it got delayed. Now, once it got approved, we will start looking for funding from corporate entities.
