As the second phase of lockdown continues and with Center’s announcement to give relaxations after 20th April for industries to function in the non-containment zone 67 industries appeal for functioning in Visakhapatnam District.

Despite the industries eager efforts to resume their functioning on 22 industries were given permissions to function from Wednesday the 22nd of April.

These industries have to follow the guidelines set by the center for permissions to function such as to deploy only 30 percent of the employees, maintain social distance, and asking the employees to commute in their personal transport.

However these industries are said to be located in the rural pockets of Visakhapatnam and the other industries which couldn’t get through were located among the red zones areas in the GVMC limits and the three mandals of Visakhapatnam.

District Industries Centre (DIC) general manager Ramalingeswara Raju said that these 22 industries will additionally have a four member district-level committee, constituting of himself, APIIC zonal manager, deputy labour commissioner, and inspector of factories department, that will go on surprise inspection to these factories. He also added that if any of the industries are found violating the term of lockdown has to face cases charged against them.

Apart from these 22 industries under essential services, 71 IT companies in visakhapatnam were also given permission to operate with a minimal staff under the condition that the employees should work from home.

However, during the first phase of lockdown 361 industries were given permissions to operate under essential service category but during the second phase as per latest guidelines from the center only those industries that do not fall in the contaminated zones or red zones shall be given permissions to operate.

Industries willing to operate send the applications to DCI GM office mail dcigmail@gmail.com. The applications received shall be screened by a special committee and issue clearances within 24 hours as per the guidelines and those units which get permission to operate should apply for vehicle passes on https://gramawardsachivalayam.ap.gov.in/CVPASSREGISTRATION.
