In what can be said a piece of good news and hope for the Covid-19 patients, the Drugs Control Administration, Visakhapatnam district received 2,695 vials of Remdesivir injections from APMSIDC, Mangalagiri. Now based on the allocation of Remdesivir injections by the District Medical and Health Officer, the injections were distributed to Government notified Covid hospitals in the district. Out of 2,695 vials received, 1,274 Remdesivir injections were distributed to 29 such hospitals after obtaining the indents.
The rest of the vials will be issued to the government notified Covid hospitals as and when they approach the administration. The second lot of 1,152 Remdesivir injections were allotted to the district which will arrive on Wednesday. For the moment, Visakha Chemists’ Welfare Society has demanded that the supply and sale of Remdesivir injections should continue under the supervision of the Drugs Control Department.
Earlier the government had given orders to the injection manufacturing companies to deliver the product directly to the hospitals should be revoked, demanded president of the society B Srinivasa Rao. The secretary of the Visakha Chemists’ Welfare Society K Naveen said there was no role of drug stores behind black marketing these injections. Stating further, he said last year, three or four drug stores in the district were selected to sell and issue injections in the district with all the details like hospital admission, prescription, positive report and patient ID under the supervision of the Drugs Controller. Now they demanded the same process this year too.
