With the Ministry of Railways opening Shramik Special train services under the initiative to send back all the migrant workers stuck at various parts of the countries to their respective homes 642 Shramik Special trains have been running and ferried nearly 8 lakh migrants back to their places.
930 migrant workers recently arrived in a special Shramik train from Thane, at Gunthakal town of Anantapur district. Out of these 930 migrants, 250 have been tested for COVID-19 so far, and 38 out of them have tested positive. One of them is from Kadapa and the remaining 37 patients are from Kurnool district.
The migrants who were tested positive with COVID-19 had all been working at a fish market in the Masjid Bunder area of Mumbai. The infected were immediately shifted to COVID hospitals and the remaining were sent to quarantine centres.
They are being tested batch wise and the count of infected is likely to increases as the results come out. Apart from these another batch of 10 persons who returned from Varanasi to Andhra Pradesh have tested positive in West Godavari.
