The Andhra Pradesh government, in a GO No, 46 issued on December 23, decided to accord permission to the state-funded universities to introduce four year honours programme with 10 months mandatory internship with an exit option at the end of the third year for non-professional undergraduates effective from the academic year 2020-21.
The order said the students who opt to exit after three years will be awarded an undergraduate degree in BA, B.Com and BSc in non-professional streams. Those who complete a four years degree programme with a rigorous research project in major areas of study will be awarded the honours degree. With the introduction of this new programme, the three-year honours degree were withdrawn from the 2020-21 academic year.
