5 Delicious Smoothies to Keep You Healthy During Lockdown


Staying healthy may seem very tough during this elongated period of lockdown, but smoothies are a great way to get all your required nutrients and vitamins blended together in a glass!

Smoothies are milk-based, but you can easily substitute regular milk with soy milk or almond milk if you’re vegan, or lactose intolerant. Nevertheless, with any kind of milk, you’re getting your daily requirements of calcium.

Here are 5 quick smoothie recipes to balance your everyday quarantine cheat day meals!

Summer Island Smoothie
A smoothie which looks and tastes great! Make two different pulps- Pink Pulp and Yellow Pulp.

Pink Pulp
1 frozen banana
¼ cup pomegranate
½ cup apple
½ cup beetroot
½ cup carrot
½ cup milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp grated ginger
Yellow Pulp
1 frozen banana
1 cup of orange juice
2 tbsp honey
1 tsp turmeric
1 cup papaya

Blend these separately and add them layer by layer to the glasses, and there you have it!
You can replace oranges with mango, to make it a proper summer drink.

Sweet Potato Smoothie
It will taste exactly like your favourite shakarkandi, like a pie, but also as a smoothie!

1 cup cut and frozen sweet potatoes
1 frozen banana
1 cup milk
½ cup plain greek yoghurt/hung curd
1 tbsp butter
½ tsp cinnamon powder
1 tsp vanilla extract
Pinch of nutmeg
Pinch of ground cloves

Mix all these in a blender, and voila!
You can add some pitted dates for added sweetness, and some chia or pumpkin seeds for garnishing.

Spinach Smoothie
Start the journey of your summer body with this detox Spinach smoothie.

2 bananas
1 apple
1 cup spinach leaves
1 lime
Water/Milk as needed

Blend these together till smooth and start your healthy eating lifestyle with this glass of goodness!
Mix in some flax seeds, watermelon seeds, pumpkin seeds for the added nutrition.

ABC Smoothie
ABC is short for Apple, Beetroot and Carrot. These three ingredients are known for their detoxing powers.

1 apple
1 beetroot
1 carrot
Pinch of cinnamon powder
Honey as required

Blend these together and you’ll have a pretty crimson looking drink in your hands!
You can add watermelon seeds, pumpkin seeds, and/or chia seeds for some added detox.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie
1 overripe frozen bananas
½ cup milk
Ice as desired
1 tbsp cocoa powder
2 tbsp peanut butter
¼ tsp vanilla extract

Add all ingredients to a mixer and blend until smooth.
Top it with some chocolate chips, chocolate sauce and banana slices for some great presentation!
