Ganesh Chaturthi, also called Vinayaka Chavithi, is an auspicious Hindu festival which is celebrated for 10 days every year. The festival is celebrated in the Bhadra month as per the Hindu calendar. Ganesha is known as the God of wealth, sciences, knowledge, wisdom and prosperity, and that’s why most Hindus remember him and seek his blessings before starting any important work.

So let’s make this Ganesh Chaturthi special with some yummy delicious prashad for Bappa:

1.Paala Undrallu:

They are prepared by way of steaming which makes them low fat unlike most festive foods which are high in calories. Different varieties of undrallu both savory and sweet ones are prepared and offered as prasadam to Lord Vinayaka. Paala Undrallu are sweet flavored and prepared from rice flour, milk, grated coconut, sesame seeds and sugar. They are very simple to prepare with a subtle sweet flavor.

2.Badam Halwa:

Badam Halwa is a melt-in-the-mouth creamy delight prepared with almonds, sugar, milk and ghee. This is very simple to prepare, it just needs sugar syrup then combines ghee and almond paste to the syrup, stirring it constantly till it forms a smooth creamy texture. This really tastes yummy!

3. Modak:

Modak is a very popular dessert, especially made for Ganesh Chaturthi and it can be prepared in many ways. Modaks are cooked by streaming as well as fried or fried dumpling and made of maida (refined flour). This traditional recipe includes fillings of grated coconut and jaggery with a hint of nutmeg. This is loved by Ganpati Bappa.

4. Bellam Undrallu:

These are steamed sweet flattened rice flour discs that are offered to lord Vinayaka in Andhra Pradesh. Bellam Undrallu are traditionally made with rice flour but can also be made with rice rava. You can garnish it with some grated coconut or dry fruits.

5. Senaga Guggillu:

Senaga Guggillu is a traditional dish from Andhra cusine made by tempering curry leaves with some basic spices. These are often prepared in South Indian homes during Pooja’s and festivals. These are mostly made during Varalakshmi puja, Ganesh Chaturthi and navratri.

6. Besan Ladoo:

Besan Ladoo are delicious sweet balls which are made with besan(gram flour), sugar, ghee and cardamoms. This sweet brings a melt in mouth texture. These are especially made in festival’s and celebration. Aprart from modaks, Bappa even loves to eat ladoos, so there are many varieties of ladoos prepared on this day.
