5 Sivaratri revellers die in 3 separate incidents in Vizag


Five Sivaratri revellers died in three separate incidents on Friday morning. While three youths drowned at Yarada and at a beach near Gayatri College, two youths, who were coming from Vizianagaram to Bheemili Beach, died in a road accident. Two persons died in a two-wheeler road accident near SOS junction under Bheemili police station limits in the city late on Thursday night. The deceased were identified as Ram Babu (35) and Nookaraju (30) both residents of Kamma Veedhi, Vizianagaram.

The due were heading towards Visakhapatnam from Vizianagaram to attend Sivaratri celebrations on Thursday night on a motorcycle. Police said that double-road works were going on at many areas in Bheemili limits. The due entered a road, which was under construction, and fell on the ground.

A “Take Diversion” board was placed at the under-construction road, but the duo entered the route. Rambabu, who was riding the bike, did not wear a helmet. Both of them received very serious injuries and died on the spot. Bodies were sent for post-mortem. A case has been registered and the investigation is on.

At Yarada beach, a person, Banka Mohan (20), had gone mission while he was taking a bath in the sea. The police have registered a case following a complaint lodged by Banka’s father. Both father and boy were daily wage labourers. In another incident, two youths drowned near a beach opposite Gayatri College. A six-member group Lakshminagar in Gopalaapatnam came for a bath at Rushikonda. Since there was a rush at the beach opposite Gayatri College. However, when one of the youths was dragged by a wave, his friends tried to rescue him and another boy also drowned. While one died on the spot, another boy died while undergoing treatment. The victims have been identified as Senapathi Ganesh (22) and Potnuru Jagadeesh (17) of Lakshminagar.
