More and more Covid-19 cases were being reported from the villages in Vizianagaram district, said District Collector Dr M Hari Jawahar Lal while reviewing the situation with the senior health officials on Thursday. In a virtual meeting held with the health officials, MPDOs, tahsildars and senior revenue officials, the collector told them to create village level isolation to contain the spread of the virus.
A list of such isolation centres has been prepared to put into action. He said around 60 per cent of the total cases in the district are being reported from villages and all the affected persons need to be isolated immediately to prevent spreading. He said the patients have no home isolation facility and spending with the family members in the same dwelling spreading the virus to all the family members. The patients were also not aware of the basic precautions needed to be taken after being infected with the virus.
He said there was no need for isolation centres if Covid Care Centres were operating close to the villages. In other places, schools, hostels and other government places should be converted into isolation centres which would be managed by the Sarpanch, Asha workers and ANMs. He said there was no need for waiting for testing people showing primary symptoms.
