There was a minor incident of gas leakage at the crude oil distillation unit (CDU 2) of the HPCL plant on Wednesday afternoon. This created a panic situation with the workers running out of the plant all of a sudden.
According to some preliminary information available, a small quantity of LPG gas leaked from the Crude Distillery Unit 2 in the plant at around 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM.
Then immediately HPCL authorities alerted the workers and rang the alarm which created panic among the people in the surrounding areas. Hearing the siren from the plant, people came out of their homes into the streets.
A similar incident that took place around 3 months ago can be recalled. That incident happened at the Crude Distillery Unit 3 in the plant.
HPCL authorities told that this time it was a minor incident and it was controlled within ten minutes by the technical team.
