In what can be good news for the tourists visiting Aaraku to see the picturesque greenery, Indian Railways has decided to augment with Vistadome coach and one sleeper class coach for the convenience of tourists in the Visakhapatnam-Kirandul-Visakhapatnam daily special express, to be revived with effect from December 18. The move will attract more tourist flow and add more revenue to the railway’s kitty. These Vistadome coaches are specially-designed with large glass windows and roof that enables passengers to get a panoramic view of the Eastern Ghats and its rich ecology.
The train starts at 06:45 A.M daily from Vishakhapatnam Station. The 1st one hour of the journey feels very normal. But as soon as the train starts climbing the hills, one can feel that sudden change in the ambient around. A wintry breeze would definitely alert you that the time has come to visualize the beauty of the valley. The number of tunnels en route will surely add spice to your food. However, the most important thing about this tour is that you have to occupy a seat by the window on your right-hand side, i.e, in a similar direction in which the train moves.
With the chorus growing louder for more stoppages, additional halts have been provided at Srugavarapukota, Borra Guhalu, Kotpar Road, Diilimili, and Kaklur. It may be recalled that the Hello Vizag had underscored the need to use the available Vistadome coach for the benefit of tourists and the need to secure five additional Vistadome coaches, as promised by Minister of State for Railways Suresh Angadi in September 2019, in these columns on December 14, 2020.
The timings of the special train also advanced to ensure higher occupancy in the Vistadome coach during the return journey from Araku to Visakhapatnam. Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, Divisional Railway Manager appealed to all the passengers to strictly follow all the health protocols for a safe and comfortable journey.
