The Aadhar Seva Kendra (ASK) in Dwaraka Nagar has completed one year on Sunday. The facility, which began with 20 staff, now has 40 working staff, including helpers. Despite the Covid pandemic, the Aadhaar centre has managed to work on 1,25,000 updates and produce several new Aadhaar cards in the last one year. For the comfort of the citizens, the ASK has begun availing their services by setting up camps. If a particular community, school or organization with over 100 members requires Aadhaar services, then a camp will be set up in a particular organization for providing services.
Currently, the ASK is organising two camps, one in Coromandel International Ltd and the other in Chintapalli. Speaking to Hello Vizag, ASK Central manager Polavarapu Srihari said, “WE have also set up camps in placed far away from the city such as Paderu, Pedabayaly and Araku. IN the upcoming months, we will be setting camps in Coast Guard and Navy residential areas,” Srihari further said that the centre at various schools and colleges as well.
A camp can last for any number of days depending on the requirement of the people in the surrounding areas, he added. The ASKm which was started as a B-category centre has been upgraded to an A-category centre by the UDAI in November. The centre is equipped with all necessary amenities and can accommodate 5o people inside while following social distancing. The queue system and the quick verification and update are processed in such a manner that each person’s wait time lies between 20 to 30 minutes, in peak hours.
“The Aadhaar Centre receives 800 to 1,200 applications per day,” Srihari elaborated. The maximum applications are for updates and changes, and the centre receives around 100 applications for new Aadhaar cards per day.
