Seniority means much more than grey hairs and the date on which one happened to join an organization, be it in private, public, or government services. What counts is what one delivers today, tomorrow, or the day after; regardless of who is at the helm. The Andhra Pradesh government is going to have a new Chief Secretary on New Year’s Day.
Adithyanath Das, 1987 batch IAS officer, has been hand-picked by Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy to be the next CS. Dr. YS Rajasekhar Reddy as chief minister had selected Adithya for his crucial ‘Jala Yagnam’ program and Adithya proved to be the most successful irrigation secretary in the history of undivided Andhra Pradesh with his yagna in the wing. Adithya is known for the efficient handling of crucial departments like irrigation, both in the united state and in new Andhra Pradesh. He played a crucial role in reforming the irrigation sector and expediting several projects by resolving tricky interstate issues.
Known for his integrity and swiftness, Adithya will be a great asset to the Andhra government. Adithya’s positive attitude is expected to fix negative forces in the government. For the record, the appointment will mean bypassing senior officers Ajay Sawhney, Reddy Subramanyam, Sameer Sharma, Abhay Tripathi, and Satish Chandra. While the first three are busy in Government of India assignments, Satish is supervising the important Higher Education Department in the state.
