Special personnel joined the Adivasis in big numbers to lay a road in the interior tribal area in Vizianagaram district on Friday. The special party wing led by OSD ( Operations), N Suryachandra Rao and the local people began work to lay a clay road from Yegua Medangi village under Makuva Mandal in the district. These are interior parts in the Agency area and were not connected with any important roads of the Mandal.
More than 150 police personal joined the tribals to clear the bushes and lay the clay road. It will take a few more days to complete the work and will benefit hundreds of tribals from the villages to reach nearby health centers and also to visit the local markets.
Inspector of Salur Police Station L. Appala Naidu said that for years the villagers have been struggling to get medical facilities and others due to no road connectivity. The police team with the help of villagers laid some part of the road on Friday.
Though it is a temporary solution, it will be useful for hundreds of villagers, the OSD added. The police are also chalking out plans to use JCB and other equipment in the coming days for laying a kutcha road. The road will benefit students and pregnant women, in commuting to schools and to reach health centres.
