Popular comedian Ali, who has been in the industry for nearly four decades, has floated a banner Aliwood Entertainments to remake last year’s Malayalam hit Vikruthi as Andaru Bagundali Andulo Nenundali. Playing an equal length role alongside him in the film will be senior actor Naresh, while his friend Sripuram Kiran is directing it.
The film was launched in Hyderabad on Wednesday with SV Krishna Reddy and Achi Reddy sounding the clapperboard for the first shot, while Boyapati Sreenu and Bobby directed it jointly. Cameraman S Gopal Reddy switched on the camera.
Speaking later, Ali said Kiran and he were roommates during their struggling days in Madras. “He advised me to watch Vikruthi during the lockdown. I felt it was a great film. I immediately rang Naresh anna and asked him to watch it. He obliged, after which I told him he will be playing the hearing/speech-challenged man. He was gung-ho about it. Pavitra Lokesh will be seen as his wife, while Mouryani plays my wife. Ravishankar is on board for a crucial role. The story unfolds in a metro train and Kiran has completely tweaked the second half,” he pointed out.
Stating that he is a fan of Ali, Naresh sounded optimistic of film’s characters resonating with everyone. “I was in awe of the work Kiran had undertaken for the remake. It’s a contemporary script with a lot of humour and little emotion. The project will be another milestone in my and Ali’s careers. Also, I’ve been prepping a lot for the role,” he stated. The film, with music by Rakesh, has gone to floors on Wednesday itself and will be completely shot in Hyderabad. According to a source, the makers have allocated Rs 1.5 crore as the budget.
