The 6th CME update on COVID 19, an initiative of Andhra Medical College (AMC) was conducted recently.
Dr. PV Sudhakar, Principal of Andhra Medical College and Superintendent, King George Hospital spoke about the guidelines for recording COVID deaths.
He addressed regarding the do’s & don’ts in recording cause of death. The emergency code for recording COVID deaths as per WHO is UO7 .1.
He emphasized on the public health importance of recording underlying cause of death. He informed participants about the Electronic Mortality Software, developed by the National Centre for Disease informatics and Research which can be used by all hospitals for recording of cause of death.
The Department of Community Medicine is collaborating with NCDIR in a project since a year for recording and reporting the deaths occurring in KGH using the EMoR software.
The second speaker was Dr.B.Devi Madhavi, Professor &HoD, Community Medicine, AMC who gave an update on the global CoVID vaccines status. She informed that Andhra Medical College has been permitted by Govt.of Andhra Pradesh to carry out a phase 2/3 study for studying the safety and Immunogenicity of a CoVID 19 vaccine (COVISHIELD), a study sponsored by the Serum Institute of India and Co-Sponsored by ICMR. The study will be recruiting healthy adult volunteers for the study very shortly.
The sessions were followed by a QA session and Dr.KV Ramprasad, program coordinator proposed the vote of thanks.
