Hello traveller! This article is absolutely for you to make your trip sorted and well-planned. If you are planning on a trip to Vizag for a few days, then you have to know everything the city is famous for! Your first day in the city can be spent in visiting the famous places within Vizag such as RK Beach, Kailashgiri, Rushikonda, Simhachalam, etc. One or two days for the city tour would be sufficient, hence the next two days you could spend on visiting the nearby places. Here’s an itinerary for your visit –
Day 1 :
Araku Valley is a beautiful hill station in the Vizag district. You can start off by 4 am in the morning because you don’t want to miss the foggy atmosphere in the early morning. You’ll reach there in 3 hours (114 km) and for breakfast, there are many local tiffin centres in Araku Valley. Enjoy the road journey, the wind and the fog all over on your road trip. In Araku, there are a few must visit places which are – Galikonda Viewpoint, Coffee Museum, Tribal Museum, Padmapuram Gardens, Rana Jilleda Waterfalls and Chaparai Water Cascade. These places are located one after another not more than 3 kms from each. You can also find a local marketplace on your way and the vegetables sold here are of less price compared to the city market. The Araku coffee made by the local tribes is a must try.
After finishing off the lunch in any hotel in Araku, you can head to Borra caves which is the same route back to the Valley. It is 36.7 km from Araku and you’ll reach there within 1 hour. You can see a lot of shops around the place and the entry into the caves is only allowed with the purchase of a ticket for each. The caves are surrounded by trees, a little waterfall and also the monkeys! There’s also a lord Shiva temple inside the caves. Bamboo chicken is quite famous here, in the centres outside the caves. You should finish off the visit here by 5pm as it is the closing hours of the caves past 5pm, and head to your next destination by then.
Ananthagiri Hills and Waterfalls
The hills are 16.7 km (30 minutes) from Borra Caves. Ananthagiri hills are 9 km away from Borra caves by rail. The hills are known for its scenic beauty and the weather. The Ananthagiri village is surrounded by coffee estates and the waterfalls down the hillocks. There is a viewpoint on the way to Ananthagiri that offers a breathtaking view of the deep valleys and coffee plantations. There are many accommodation options in Ananthagiri Hills such as hotels, lodges and resorts along with many dining options. You can take a halt in Ananthagiri for the night and head to Lambasingi early in the morning.
Day 2 :
Again your journey starts early in the morning at 3 am to Lambasingi. It is 109.3 km ( 3 hrs 29 minutes) from Ananthagiri and hence by the time you reach there, you can see the fog and the cool weather still up. It is known as the “Kashmir of Andhra Pradesh” due to the climate of the place. Here, the Strawberry Fields are a must visit place. There aren’t many places to visit here as it is a tiny village on the hill top. Many breakfast options are available even in this tiny village, Lambasingi. After the visit here, you can head to the Kothapalli Waterfalls which are about 30 km from lambasingi. The beautiful Waterfalls are a hidden gem which many of the tourists don’t know about.
With this, your two-day trip comes to an end and you can head back to the city, enjoying your drive back through the valleys and hills. There’s another place you can visit, another day, which is Vanjangi. The beauty of the Vizag city is endless and hence is a hot spot for tourists. Now what are you waiting for? Go plan your trip right away to the beautiful hill stations and have an amazing visit.
