Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce & Industry Government of India has sanctioned the post of IPR Chair at Andhra University under its SPRIHA scheme. Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) are vital to the development of a knowledge and the innovation led economy.
Andhra University is the first University in the State to get this prestigious IPR Chair. Prof PVGD Prasad Reddy Vice Chancellor Andhra University has issued orders today that Dr. Hanumanthu Purushotham an eminent Scientist and alumni of Andhra University (AUCE 1977-82) appointing him as the IPR Chair Professor. of the Executive Council and Prof A Bhujanga Rao, Dean R&D Prior to joining Andhra University as IPR Chair, Dr. Hanumanthu Purushotham was the
Chairman& Managing Director of National Research Development Corporation (NRDC) Ministry of Science & Technology Govt. of India.
Prof PVGD Prasad Reddy said, “Dr. Hanumanthu Purushotham brings with him a rich and diverse experience in IPRs Management, Technology Transfer, Promotion of Innovation, Incubation development, Entrepreneurship and Startups. His appointment will boost the university’s initiatives in these key areas.”
Dr. Hanumanthu Purushotham expressed his gratitude to the university leadership and said that he will focus on strengthening the innovation- entrepreneurship ecosystem at Andhra University. “By encouraging students and faculty of AU to pursue entrepreneurship, Andhra University can be transformed into a global destination for innovation.”
