AP created World record in Blood donation on CM Jagan’s birthday eve


YSR Congress party has set a world record on Monday by collecting 34.723 units of blood on the eve of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s birthday. Blood donations were organized in all 175 assembly segments in the state, part fr4om the neighbouring states of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. As a result, the blood donation found a place in the World Book of Record International.

Due to the shortage of blood prevailing in the state because of Covid-19, blood banks running short of blood for road accident victims and patients in need of blood. This prompted YR Congress Party to come up with the idea of organizing mass blood donations camps in compliance with Covid-19 protocol on the occasion of their party chief and Chief Minister’s birthday on Monday.

In all, blood donation camps were organized at 278 centres. Indian Red Cross Society, apart from government and private blood banks, were involved in collection of total 12,153 litres of blood, against the previous record of 10,500 litres. Representatives of World Book of Records International certified that collection of 34,723 units of blood was a record. It presented a citation and medal to the government adviser (Public affairs) Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy at a programme held at YSRC party office on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, representatives belonging to Wonder Book of Records International said they had hoped to collect 17,000 units of blood. But given the massive response from people, they end up collecting a record 34, 723 units of blood. Municipal Administration Botsa Satyanarayana, Endowments Minister Vellampalli Srinivas and representatives of World Book of Records International Bingi Narendra Goud, Vijay Lakshmi and others were present at the citation ceremony.
