AP Government inked MoU with Amul

The Andhra Pradesh government on Tuesday signed Memorandum of Understanding with Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd (GCMMF) that owns Amul brand, for development of the dairy sector in the state. The MoU with Amul will help the dairy farmers get a better rate by bringing in better marketing facilities and putting modern technology to use.
The agreement was inked between Special Chief Secretary Poonam Malakondayya and Amul Chennai Zonal Head Rajan in presence of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy at his camp office. Currently, Amul sells 140 lakh litre milk per day mainly in Gujarat, Delhi-NCR and Uttar Pradesh. Its dairy products are sold across the country.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Reddy said “it is historic step in the right direction for the upliftment of the women in Andhra Pradesh and it will give big boost to cooperative dairies with inclusive development for region’s prosperity”. Industry Minister Mekapati Goutam Reddy, said it is another mile stone and holistic initiative for sustainable income for the people who grow along with cooperative dairies.
