The AP Police Department has been ranked second in the implementation and utilization of the Interoperable Criminal Justice System (ICJS). The Union Government on Tuesday announced the awards for ICJS. DGP Gautam Sawang received the award in a virtual manner from Union Home Affairs Minister Kishan Reddy.
Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and Home Minister Mekathoti Sucharita expressed their delight over Andhra Pradesh Police Department winning the prestigious National Award. While Maharashtra ranked first in implementation and usage of ICJS, Telangana ranked third.
On the other hand, AP DGP Gowtham D Sawang launched a week-long ‘Anti-Drug Drive’ at the DGP office here on Tuesday. Unveiling the ‘AntiDrug Drive’ banner via webinar, the DGP said during the week-long drive various awareness programs will be organized for people who don’t take Anti-Drug Drive seriously. The DGP said that awareness programs including rallies and enforcement works will be conducted during the drive. He especially appreciated the efforts of Visakhapatnam Rural SP and Srikakulam SP in controlling the banned ganja tactfully in the recent past. All the SPs of other districts should also take measures to curb ganja and banned drugs, the DGP instructed the officials on the occasion.
