AP sees dip in Covid, Black Fungus cases

Black Fungus cases as well as Covid-19 case are showing a steady decline in their spread in Andhra Pradesh. As on Friday, there were 1,307 active black fungus cases while 138 persons have died due to the virus in the state so far.

State Health principal secretary Anil Kumar Singhal said the state has administered Covid vaccine to 1,28,824 persons including mothers with children below five years as also the students going abroad for study or work, all on a priority basis. There is no lapse in the vaccination for mothers, he said.

So far, 1.13 crore vaccine doses were distributed to the district. Of them, 61.67 lakh were first doses and 26.04 lakh second doses. For people aged above 45 years, the first dose was given to 52.52 lakh persons and the second dose to 18.94 lakh persons, covering 53.07 percent of the population.

Some 47.50 lakh doses of the jab will be administered in the state by the end of June. The positivity rate of the Covid-19 virus was gradually registering a dip. It was at 8.29 on June 12 and 8.09 by June 11. The rate of recovery has gone up to 94 percent. The number of deaths also came down. While 67 persons died of the virus on June 10, the figure for June 11 was 61.

Covid-19 treatment was being given at 454 hospitals at present. Earlier, at the peak of the second wave, 625 hospitals had been enlisted for this treatment. Out of the 590 metric tonnes of medical oxygen allotted by the center, AP drew 423 metric tonnes in the last 24 hours.
