Mayor Golagani Venkata Hari Kumari has asked the Chief Medical Officer of Health KSLG Sastry it has become important that all be aware of Covid Appropriate Behaviour(CAB), particularly wearing face masks and maintaining personal hygiene in view of the spiraling number of cases in the city. Addressing a meeting with various HoDs of GVMC along with deputy mayor G Sridhar she said she will extend all help for the development of the city in coordination with the corporators and officials.
GVMC Superintending Engineer (Water Supply) K. Venugopal informed the Mayor that they have taken up 44 works with Rs 3 crore to mitigate drinking water problem in the GVMC area, particularly in merged areas during the summer.
Additional commissioners V Sanyasi Rao, AV Ramani and Asha Jyothi explained the functions of various departments. GVMC horticulture official Damodar Rao gave details of the parks being developed and green cover projects in the city and GVMC DEO Srinivas said development works were being taken up at 142 schools under Nadu-Nedu, Smart City projects in the GVMC area for the development of education.
Replying to a query by the Mayor, GVMC Chief Engineer M Venkateswar Rao said they were setting up water kiosks in view of summer in Visakhapatnam. Deputy mayor Sridhar said sanitation staff should be given equipment and the setting up of motors for water connections should be regulated. He said steps should be taken for safety at RK Beach and Yarada Beach similar to those taken at Goa Beach. Sridhar said they should focus on fire safety at the GVMC office and the removal of silt at Meghadrigedda Reservoir.
GVMC commissioner G Srijana said they will hold a meeting for all newly elected corporators before the first council meeting. Later, the Mayor and deputy mayor left for Vijayawada to attend a two-day state-level conference for newly elected mayors and deputy mayors to be held from Wednesday.
