The Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations in Visakhapatnam go off to a great start on Sunday. BJP MLC PVN Madhav said that it was an appropriate occasion to recognize the sacrifices made by the martyrs. Visakhapatnam Mayor G Hari Venkata Kumari formally inaugurated the exhibition containing photographs of significant events of the freedom struggle.
The Mayor said, “Everyone should remember the sacrifices of the martyrs which made possible Indian Independence.” The BJP MLC recalled that Prime Minister Narendra Modi the Azad Ka Amrit Mahotsav in Gujarat on March 12. He said the day was chosen to mark the 90th anniversary of the Dandi March.
As a part of the programme, freedom fighters across the country would be felicitated. Various competitions would be organized as part of the celebrations. All India Raid (AIR), Vizag, assistant director V Srinivasa Mahesh presided over, said that a three-day-long photo exhibition of the freedom struggle would be organized as part of the Mahotsav. On the concluding day of the celebrations, students and denizens would take out a rally at the Beach Road on March 23.
