On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, various trade unions of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited, the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, unveiled the centenary wallpaper of late Tamanampally Amritarao, who walked in the footsteps of Mahatma Gandhi. Mr. Amrita Rao was a former MLA of Tadikonda from Guntur district, who was the backbone in achieving the Visakha Steel Plant with the slogan “Visakha Ukku, Andhrula Haiku” (Visakha Steel, Right of Andhra People).
The Present Vizag Steel plant was originally planned to set up in Hospet in Ballari of Karnataka.
