Bringing quality eye care to tribal areas


Sankar Foundation Eye Hospital and Institute, a renowned community eye care hospital, is now extending its quality eye care services to the tribal, Naxal-affected and underdeveloped areas. The Foundation which has performed over 3.15 lakh eye surgery in north coastal Andhra Pradesh has been serving in Nabarangpur, Malkangiri and Koraput districts for the past five years.

In association with the Rotary Eye and Health Care Hospital, Jeypore, it has been providing services in Koraput district of Odisha. Conducting 26 outreach campaigns, Sankar Foundation has performed 3000 eye surgeries which include Cataract, Glaucoma, Cornea and Paediatric cataracts. Towards extending quality eye care services to more people in need, the Foundation has associated with Rotary Club, Jeypore and took over operations and management of Rotary Eye and Health Care hospital.

To reach the unreached people, MD of Hello Jeypore, Anjani Agarwal donated a 7- seater Maruti van to the eye care hospital on Thursday. The van will be used for ferrying patients from the camps conducted in the rural villages. Alok Agarwal, Mr Gupta and Ashish Agarwal from Rotary Club and Bangararaju and SKL Rao from Sankar Foundation were present.
