The ongoing book exhibition “BooksByWeight” at Lions Club of Visakhapatnam is proving to be a major attraction for book lovers. From across the city, bibliophiles are turning up at the exhibition, buying their choicest books by weight, and not by its cover cost. The exhibition will continue till April 18. Previously -owned books are sold at the rate of Rs 100, Rs 200 and Rs 300 per kg. In the evening hours, one can witness huge crowds at the book exhibition.
Speaking to Hello Vizag, the organizers of the exhibition said “We take Rs 300 per kg for children’s premium books including picture books, children’s fiction, reference books and children’s book sets and also children will get approximately 4 A format paperback books – at the rate of around Rs 25 per book or 3 B format Paperback books – approximately Rs 33 per book in a kilogram.
Entry is prohibited without a mask. Due to spike in the Covid pandemic, people are expected to sanitise their hands before and after touching a book and maintain physical distancing at the venue. BooksByWeight is being organised by a Mumbai-based bookshop called Butterfly Books. These sale exhibitions were organized at all major Indian cities and have recently concluded one at Chennai. In Vizag, the book sale exhibition is happening for the second time, earlier took place in February 2020.
