Writer- filmmaker BVS Ravi has donned greasepaint to play a supporting role in Ravi Teja-starrer Krack, directed by Gopichand Malineni. “The duration of the role is small. I will be seen as a good-for-nothing guy who comments on happenings on the ongoing incidents in the place where the film is set. Director Gopi is a dear friend of mine and we’ve started our careers in the industry as assistant directors with the same film. So when asked me to play the role, I obliged readily. Plus, I have known Ravi Teja for the past two decades,” he tells us
Acting is not unchartered territory for Ravi, so the question of being uncomfortable facing the camera was ruled out. “I was an actor in my school and college. Also, as a director, I act out my scenes to my actors so that they know what I’m expecting of them. Which is why there was no sense of discomfort as such while enacting the part. I shot my portions for a week almost,” he notes, adding that he is open for more offers in the future.
“It all boils down to whether writers and directors feel that if I fit a particular part. If they do, I’m ready.” So, did he pocket any remuneration for Krack? Laughing, he adds, “I’ve done the project on a friendly note. I didn’t expect any payment but the producer was kind enough to offer it to me. However, I refused as it is my friend’s film.” Ravi is presently busy as a writer. Vikram Kumar is directing Thank You, starring Naga Chaitanya, from his script. He is also penning the story for a couple of web series. Then there is a film, an action-thriller, which he is producing with TV actor Sagar (Mogalirekulu fame) in the lead. When asked whether direction has taken a backseat, the Jawaan helmer informed, “As soon as my writing assignments are wrapped up next month, I’m planning to direct a film.”
