Secretary of the Vizag Film Society and former member of Censor Board of Hydeberad Narava Parkash Rao has asked the Tourism Minister Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao to include film festivals in the tourism policy that was released recently
In a letter to the minister on Monday, Prakash Rao said film entertainment both at the national and international level entertains the people and attracts the tourists. States like Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, West Bengal, Odisha, New Delhi, and Goa have already incorporated film festivals in their respective state tourism policy that helped them as a source of income. Goa is a permanent venue that organizes festivals regularly with the support of the Directorate of Film Festivals, Government of India.
He suggested that government departments like AP Film Development Corporation, I&PR and Cinematography Ministry, Directorate of Film Festivals, and AP Film allied organizations like AP Film Chambers of Commerce, MAA, Film Directors Association, and Film societies may be coordinated by the government to organize such festivals in AP where infrastructure is available as per the standards fixed by the Directorate of Film Festivals.
