In a bid to help farmers to store their farm produce and get Minimum Support Prices to their crops, state government came forward with an innovate way by setting up Rytu Bhorosa Kendram (RBK) which will have Cold storages with grading and sorting machinery in every mandal of the state.
During a review meeting in his camp office in Amaravati today, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said Rs. 4000 crore fund will be infused to strengthen the agricultural marketing. He asked the officials to work on strengthening the cold storage chain and processing networks in the agriculture sector and ensure that farmers do not run into losses. The agriculture assistants were asked to monitor the crop prices on a daily basis and alert the marketing officials, in case the farmers are not offered with MSP.
The existing decentralised Rythu Bazars along with Janata Bazars will be continued to provide and all essential goods to the people. Facilities such as refrigerators to store goods, a truck for the transportation of vegetables, milk, fruits, eggs, etc should be provided at Janata Bazars, the Chief Minister said in a review meeting held in Amaravati.
Minister for Agriculture K Kannababu said that farmers will get Minimum Support Price (MSP) for all crops and there are no interruptions to agricultural operations. As on date, we have purchased all types of crops including perishable goods like banana, papaya, tomato and directly distributed to the public at a very affordable cost. The minister said that the government is firm on protecting agriculture and aqua products and is taking measures to provide MSP to their produce. Moreover, there will be no hurdles in transporting the agri products and perishing goods will be purchased at the market by the State, he said.
