Andhra Pradesh witnessed a highest single-day spike of 1,933 Covid-19 positive cases and 19 deaths on Sunday. With the Sunday’s spike, the total number of Covid-19 cases in the state has jumped to 29,168. The active cases in the state are at 13,428 while 15,412 patients recovered from Covid and have been discharged from hospitals. The total death toll in the state now stands at 328.
47 new Covid 19 cases were reported from Visakhapatnam taking the tally to 2078 in the district on Sunday, 3 more persons succumbed to Corona virus, taking the death toll to 25. With the detection of news cases, Special Officer for COVID -19 and Principal Dr.P.V. Sudhakar, said 29 new clusters including Balaji Nagar (Simhachalam), Adarsh Nagar, areas of Elamanchali, Nakkapalli, K Kotapadu, Devarapalle, and Anakapalle, were formed in the district.
Kurnool continues to be the hotspot of Covid-19 cases. On Sunday, 237 positive cases were reported, which takes the total tally to 3,407. East Godavari recorded a highest number of 278 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday, taking the total number of cases to 2,652. Krishna district reported 206 fresh Covid-19 cases.
Guntur district crossed the 3,000-mark on Sunday with 152 new cases being registered taking the total to 3,019. Apart from Guntur, Anantapur and Kurnool also recorded more than 3,000 cases, 3,290 and 3,405 respectively.
Four deaths were reported in Kurnool and Srikakulam, three each in Krishna and Visakhapatnam districts, two each in Chittoor and Nellore and one each in Anantapur and West Godavari districts.
On the death toll front, Kurnool district tops the chart with 101 deaths followed by Krishna district with 80 deaths while Guntur district has occupied third place in the chart with 29 deaths. On Sunday, over 846 Covid-19 patients recovered and 17,624 new samples were tested. So far, 11,53,849 samples were tested in the state.
