Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday logged 43 fresh Covid 19 deaths, a new single day high, taking the overall toll to 408 mark. Another 1,916 fresh infections took the coronavirus aggregate tally to 33,019, of them 15,144 being active cases, according to the latest bulletin. Tuesday’s death toll is higher than the previous record of 37 deaths reported the preceding morning.

Visakhapatnam district saw the highest daily infection with 179 new Cases on Tuesday. The total count of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Vizag increased to 2,375. Covid-19 Special Officer for Visakhapatnam Dr PV Sudhakar said 1,124 patients are undergoing treatment in the district and 1,216 individuals have been discharged after recovering from the virus. In the past 24 hours, the district death toll increased to 35, as six patients succumbed to Covid19.

On Tuesday, the very active clusters in the district stood at 151. In Vizag, 183 clusters have been marked as active and 122 are considered as dormant clusters. While 39 containment clusters were denotified after no new case has been reported in those areas in the past 28 days. As the unlock phase began, the number of Covid-19 cases see rapid increase in Vizag. In June alone, as many as 787 individuals were infected by the virus. While it took more than two months for the district’s Cvoid-19 count to hit the 1,000-mark, more than 1,300 cases have been reported since July 2.

Deaths were reported from nine of the state’s 13 districts. Anantapur recorded the highest number of 10 deaths followed by West Godavari with nine deaths. Chittoor, East Godavari, and Kadapa reported five deaths each, while Kurnool and Prakasam reported two deaths each. To the north, Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram districts reported two and one deaths respectively.
