There appears to be no respite coming from Covid-19 infections and casualties in AP. On Wednesday, the State registered 6,045 new infections and 65 deaths, making it the highest single-day spike in terms of cases and casualties recorded in AP till date. With the latest surge, the total number of Covid-19 cases increased to 64,713 and the death toll in the state now stands at 823. A total of 49,553 samples were tested in the past 24 hours ending 9 am, Wednesday.
Visakhapatnam district recorded the highest number of 1,049 (highest cases in the past 24 hours in the state), followed by East Godavari district with 891, Guntur 842, Kurnool 678, and West Godavari 672. Of the staggering 65 deaths, 15 were recorded in Guntur, 10 in Krishna, eight in West Godavari, seven in East Godavari, five each in Chittoor and Kurnool district, four in Vizianagaram, three each in Prakasam, Srikakulam and Visakhapatnam districts. One death each was reported in Kadapa and Nellore districts.
Meanwhile, 6,494 (highest in a single day so far) persons made a complete recovery and were discharged from hospitals across the state. The total number of recoveries now stands at 32,127, while the total number of active cases was put at 31,763.
