Cyclone Gulab crossed the Bay of Bengal coast near Kalingapatnam on Sunday night. Later it weakened into a depression and caused widespread rains in several districts of Andhra Pradesh on Monday. The rains left a trail of destruction, and also claimed two deaths in Andhra Pradesh. Visakhapatnam received a record rainfall of over 33.3 cm in 24 hours under the cyclone’s impact.
The cyclone Gulab disturbed the day- to-day life of Vizagites as many major parts of the city were found logged with water. Even the Vizag international airport is flooded with rain water. Vizag city is expected to receive moderate to heavy rain for another 36-48 hours.
Railways cancelled a few train services due to the weather.
Train number 08446 Jagdalpur- Bhubaneswar special, leaving Jagdalpur on Sept 28 is cancelled.
Train no 02098 Junagarh Road- Bhubaneswar special, leaving Junagarh on Sept 28 also cancelled.
Train No.02822 Chennai Central-Howrah special will leave at 9:30 hours on Sep 28.
