A Man who inculcated the fire in the “Indian Team”, A man who took Indian cricket to a new level, the aggressive captain who laid the path for making India as one of the top team in the world and what not?

Taking up the Captaincy after the exposes of match fixing in 2000 to leading the team to 2003 World Cup final, he is an uncompromising leader.

Born in 1972 in Kolkata, West Bengal. He went to become the second highest run scorer in India’s ODI history. He has an important place and  separate fan base. His shirtless celebration, after India beat England in NatWest tri-series final, still runs in the mind of every indian cricket fan.

He is a leader who believed in youth and inculcated fire in them to get the best out of them. Yuvraj Singh, Virendra Sehwag, MS Dhoni, Zaheer Khan, Harbhajan Singh etc are the players who went on to become the stars of Indian cricket, were given opportunities by him to showcase their talents, it can be said that he believed in their talent.

From making Sehwag to open the match to asking Rahul Dravid to wear wicket keeping gloves and many more are examples of his outlook. He gave MS Dhoni an important chance which made the Indian cricket future to shine like a star in the World Cricket.
