A de-addiction centre was setup recently at King George Hospital (KGH) to treat people who got addicted to alcohol, smoking, etc. Cheif Minister Y.S.Jagan Mohan Reddy had inaugurated the centre through a video conference from Amaravati.
District Collector and Chairman of district select committee Visakhapatnam V Vinay Chand, IAS, released the provisional list of recruitment on contract basis for the categories of nurses,ward boys, doctors, DEO’s and counselors for the de-addiction centre.
It is one among the 15 centres setup around Andhra Pradesh, consisting of a 15-beded capacity to treat the persons addicted to alchohol, drugs, ganja and other related bad habits.
The centre provides both regular outpatient services along with community clinics. It also aims at providing awareness among the public and curbing the intake of illicit drugs in any form and consumption of alcohol in order to achieve prohibition.
It has also been equipped to take training classes on de-addiction for both medical and non-medical personnel.
It has been learnt that the department will coordinate with NGOs, departments like police, excise along with social, women and child welfare organisations in order to curb the consumption of alcohol and other illicit drugs to support both public and government.
