Chairman of Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (VMRDA) and two-time MLA Dronamraju Srinivasa Rao passed away at 3.30 pm in a private hospital in Vizag on Sunday after fighting with Covid-19 related complications. He was 59 and is survived by his wife, a son, and daughter.
He was born in a family, which was loyal to Congress Party for seven decades and made a mark in Andhra politics. After being with Congress for years, he shifted his loyalty towards the YSR Congress party before the last Assembly elections. He was graduate from Andhra University in 1984 and LLB from Berhampur University in 1997.
He was the first person who became the chairman of the VMRDA, more than 40 years after his father late Mr. Satyanarayana served the same organization in 1978.
He was known to one and all for his humble nature and easy access to the general public due to which he was praised across all the political spectrum. Indeed, the news came as a rude shock and jolted the people of Vizag from the Sunday clumber.
