Doctors from Andhra Pradesh took part in a protest against ‘Mixopathy’ conducted by Indian Medical Association at New Delhi on Thursday. IMA-AP secretary Dr Garlapati Nandakishore, IMA national representative Dr Daggubati Srihari and others expressed concern over allowing non-allopathic doctors to conduct surgeries under Mixopathy as a major threat to the lives of patients.
Speaking to Hello Vizag, Dr Nandakishore and Dr Srihari said that the allopathic doctors started 14 days relay hunger fast under the aegis of IMA and are staging protests across the country. They said that allowing Ayurveda doctors to practice allopathy giving the opportunity to study PG (allopathic) courses is unethical and unscientific as ayurvedic procedures are not from modern medicine (Allopathy).
They said that they are not against Ayurveda but are opposing allowing Ayurvedic practitioners to conduct surgeries as they don’t have that awareness and training. The doctors condemned the predatory poaching on modern medicine and its surgical disciplines by the Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM) by allowing non-allopathic doctors to practice allopathic treatments and demanded an immediate withdrawal of the Mixopathy decision.
