For the first time in AP, a dry run will be conducted on Monday, December 28, with regard to the distribution and administration of corona vaccine at five places in the Krishna district. This is consequent on the Union government’s decision to conduct Covid-19 vaccine dry run in Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Gujarat, and Punjab states on December 28.
The main aim of the dry run will be to strengthen the capacity of our human resource for COVID-19 vaccine introduction and roll-out, detailed training modules have been developed for different categories of vaccine handlers and administrators including medical officers, vaccinators, alternate vaccinators, cold chain handlers, supervisors, data managers, ASHA coordinators and all others involved in the implementation process at different levels.
At the same time, it will provide hands-on experience to program managers at various levels. This will also test cold storage and transport arrangements made for the distribution of the Covid-19 vaccine, apart from other issues like the management of crowds. Results of the dry run will be reviewed to fine-tune the distribution of the vaccine.
Krishna district and health officer Dr. Suhasini said the dry run will be conducted at Government General Hospital (GGH, Prakashnagar Urban Primary Healthcare Centre, Poorna Hospital at Vijayawada, government hospital at Tadigadapa, and the Primary Health center in Uppulur.
She maintained that the dry run will be in accordance with norms issued by the central government. Three rooms will be made available at each center, where 25 health workers each will go through processes of registration, vaccination, and observation respectively. Dr. Sushasini said persons from various categories, such as differently-abled, co-morbid, above 50 years, and women, have been selected for the dry run.
