Eminent personalities to participate in the webinar being hosted by IGZP on Global Tiger Day


Global Tiger Day has been held on the 29th of July every year since 2010 when it was first created at the Saint Petersburg Tiger Summit. This was done to raise awareness of the decline of wild tiger numbers, leaving them on the brink of extinction and to encourage the celebration around the important work of Tiger conservation. Andhra Pradesh Forest Department has been at the forefront of tiger conservation.

An online webinar by the Andhra Pradesh Forest Department, Government of AP is being organized on the eve of the Global Tiger Day 2020 on ‘Tiger Conservation’ on July 29, 2020 from 3:30-5:30 pm. The webinar is being hosted on the website of Indira Gandhi Zoological Park, Vishakhapatnam and will be live streamed on the Youtube on the link Registration for the webinar can be done on

Many esteemed dignitaries will be sharing their views on this occasion. N. Prateep Kumar, IFS, PCCF (HoFF) & PCCF (WL) & CWLW, AP will be opening the session followed by Dr. Dhananjai Mohan, IFS, Director, Wildlife Institute of India. Senior officers from Andhra Pradesh Forest department Rahul Pandey, IFS, CCF (Wildlife) and Surendra Mehra, IFS, Dy. Inspector General, National Tiger Conservation Authority, New Delhi, India will be sharing their views and the work being done in the field of tiger conservation in Andhra Pradesh and the entire nation respectively.

Esteemed dignitaries from all over the country are participating in this webinar. Bittu Sahgal, Environmental activist, Writer, Founder, Sanctuary Nature Foundation is one amongst them. Bollywood Actor & Producer Ms. Dia Mirza who is also an UNEP Goodwill Ambassador, UN Secretary General’s Advocate for SDGs, Ambassador, Wildlife Trust of India, Artist Ambassador, Save The Children, Board Member Sanctuary Nature Foundation, will also be talking about why to conserve the tigers.
