Seeing the cases spike up in five days in the state, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, took a call on Friday to invoke Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA) for a period of six months.
It implies that employees cannot take a leave or abstain from work and do protest, if belonging to the respective departments. It is applicable to all the employees working in public and private hospitals, pharmaceuticals, water, electricity, waste management, sanitation, basically all the health, sanitation and public rendering services.
They have to render services incessantly and abide by the order till the period of six months. This was issued by K S Jawahar Reddy, special chief secretary of Medical and health.
This call was taken seeing the current scenario, the cases are escalating faster than the wildfire.
