Eve teaser arrested in Vizag


The Visakhapatnam police today arrested the eve teaser Dupada Rambabu (30) for behaving indecently with women. This was disclosed by Disha Police Station ACP Dr. G Prem kajal at a press conference held at Maharanipeta Police Station. The victims lodged an online complaint with the city police commissioner and a case was registered at the Maharanipeta police station in collaboration with Disha police station said ACP Dr G Prem Kajal.

Four special teams were set up to nab the accused. The bike number of the accused was identified with the help of CCTV footage. In the wake of this, women police, victims and Maharanipeta police conducted separate surveillance in Mufti at Novatel Junction, Beach Road from Monday morning. Police in the mufti arrested the accused when he arrived at the Novotel. Meanwhile, the victim women also reached there and identified the accused. Police arrested the accused and seized a two-wheeler and a cellphone. The accused was booked under sections 354 and 354-A of the IPC under the Direction Act and remanded. The accused works as an accountant in a shipping company in the Pandimetta area supports the family, and has a married wife and two daughters.

ACP Dr. G. Premkajal asked the victims to have the courage to complain if any mob assaults or sexually harassed women. Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy has enacted the Disha Act that seeks to fast track cases of offenses against women and give justice instantly. He suggested that everyone download the Disha app, press the SVOS button on the app in case of an accident and report it to the police.

It was clarified that it would be helpful to inform the police through Dial 100, 112, Mahila Mitra, Cyber Mitra (9121211100, 9493336633) for emergency assistance. Disha Police Station CI G Nirmala, Two Town CI Venkata Rao and Maharanipeta SI RHNV Kumar were present during the press briefing.
