First direct transmission of COVID-19 case in Andhra Pradesh


The 49-year-old woman who has been tested positive of COVID-19 in the state on Sunday, has been a close contact of the 65-year old man who was earlier diagnosed with the virus.
Earlier the 65 year old who travelled from Mecca in Saudi Arabia to Hyderabad halted for two days at his daughter’s place and then in Kachiguda express he came down to Visakhapatnam and went back to his home at Allipuram in an auto on March 12.
Feeling sick he rushed to the nearest hospital and got a check up done. With the symptoms he was immediately shifted to the isolation ward in Government Chest Hospital, Vizag and was confirmed with COVID-19 on March 17.
Later the symptoms showed up in the close contact that is the 49 year old and was admitted in the isolation ward on March 20. On Sunday at the late hours, it was confirmed that she is been affected with COVID-19 and this is the first direct transmission case in the state.
Meanwhile, the first case of state in Nellore district who tested positive of COVID-19, the 24 year old who travelled from Italy was admitted in the isolation ward for 14 days and treated.
when his swab samples were sent the results came up negative even his close associates tested negative. The youth will be soon discharged as he has been recovered as of now.
Total 164 samples are sent from state out of which 142 are negative, 16 samples are awaited and 6 tested positive and all are in isolation ward and are currently being treated. There has been no deaths as of now in the state. The only way to curtail its spread is by staying at home and not neglecting the hygiene factor.
