The first flight from Kurnool landed at Visakhapatnam airport on Sunday. The flight was introduced as part of the regional connectivity scheme. Minister for Tourism Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao inaugurated the book kiosk at the airport.
Speaking on the occasion, he said with the launching of Kurnool flight North Andhra region is now connected to Rayalaseema. He said Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has accorded priority to the development of three regions of the state. He said the following the air connectivity between Rayalaseema and North Andhra, the regions will witness development on industrial and tourism fronts.
Srinivasa Rao also released a first-day cover brought out by the department of post to commemorate the launching of a commercial flight from Kurnool to Visakhapatnam. Chief Post Master General M Venkateswarlu said with the launch of flight services, mail transmission will get much quicker, which will be a game-changer for AP Postal Circle to improve revenue in speed post and several other products of DoP, including e-commerce. Visakhapatnam West MLA PGVR Naidu sad under Udaan Scheme now destinations such as Kurnool and Kadapa are provided with air connectivity. MP MVV Sathyanarayana said Kurnool flight service should be run via Vijayawada to increase the occupancy and he brought the same to the notice of AAI.
