Cancer, the second leading cause of death globally, remains a significant challenge for societies, healthcare systems, and affected individuals worldwide said by GITAM Deemed to be University Dean (Sciences) Prof.A.Subrahmanyam, recently. While inaugurating the three day international webinar on “Advances in Cancer Biology and Therapeutics” organized by GITAM Biochemistry & Bioinformatics department, Prof.Subrahmanyam addressed the scientific community. He said that cancer remains a significant challenge for societies, healthcare systems, and affected individuals worldwide.
He briefed the scientific breakthroughs in controlling cancer and highlighted how the research on cancer brought the world together to one platform and the global approach in fighting it. He hoped that the combined research efforts will help the world community in coming years.
Former Director of the Tata Cancer Hospital HBCH&RC (Visakhapatnam) Dr.Digumarthi Raghunadha Rao delivered the key note speech. He highlighted the milestones in cancer
discovery immune therapeutics, underscored the importance of engineered T-cell for cancer therapy, and underlined the challenges of CAR-T cell-mediated cancer therapy.
GITAM Institute of Science Principal Prof. M. Sarathchandra Babu enlightened nanotechnology and importance in the early detection and management of cancer incidences.
GITAM Biochemistry and Bioinformatics Department head Prof. Ch. Surekha briefed the ongoing cancer research in the department for early diagnosis of cancers.
