We’ll start with the fact that Biopics exaggerate and understate certain elements and don’t present pin to pin reality. Indian Air Force has been depicted in a certain way and we’ll attribute this only to the film and not extend it to reality.
Based on The Kargil Girl, Gunjan Saxena, who has dreamt to become a Pilot since she was a kid, the plot revolves around her journey and the hurdles she had to face to achieve her dream.
This changes the course when she decides to join Air Force due to situations. Her dream along with the purpose to serve the nation is the crux of the film.
Dharma has always given films with a decent entertainment edge and adds drama to the plot to make it a Bollywood film. They have done this in a subtle manner. Songs are also added but they do not disturb the essence of the film. Director Sharma and Writer Mehrotra have thrown positive light on the other characters by including scenes and dialogues which portrayed the gender bias but also where and why it came from. As the film runs for 1hr 52mins And engages throughout, it can be considered as a brief film on the career of Gunjan Saxena and the biggest support, driving force – Her Father. Pankaj Tripathi is the best asset of the film and elevated most of the scenes he’s a part of. Angad played his part well as any other film. The commanding Officers Vineet Kumar Singh and Manav Vij were excellent too. It’s a good and engaging film throughout and already trending 1 on Netflix.
