An Awareness campaign called Gyan Suraksha Program for spreading the information of the right way of wearing masks and instant hand hygiene for fighting against Covid-19 has been conducted by Rohit Memorial Trust (RMT), a prominent NGO in Visakhapatnam in association with GVMC at Narasimha Nagar Rythu Bazaar on Sunday.
“Look around you, and almost everyone has a mask strapped on. But how many are wearing the mask properly? How many have pulled it under their noses or their mouths? As Vizag unlocks, it’s important to know how to wear the mask right. Numerous health experts and doctors have pointed out that wearing a mask on the chin or under the nose is not only pointless, it also increases the wearer’s chance of contracting an infection.
So, we thought it fit to create awareness through the Gyan Suraksha Program about the right ways of mask-wearing and hand hygiene, said says Meenakshi Anantharam, Vice Chairman of RMT.
“we propagated the importance of wearing masks to the stall owners and visitors to the bazaar, and over 1000 masks were distributed to them said Mr. Ravindra, who designed and coordinated this novel initiative. The need for proper hygiene and sanitation was also explained by G. Anantram, Chairman & Managing Trustee of RMT
The campaign was assisted by the Trustees and volunteers who participated enthusiastically. This Program will also be conducted in other Rythu Bazaars in the city with the active support of GVMC. The Trust, established twelve years ago to keep alive the memory of a strapping young lad, Rohit Anant Ganapati, has been carrying out various activities for social upliftment especially in the areas of cancer awareness and women empowerment.
