Education Minister Adimulapu Suresh on Monday said that half-day schools would commence in the state from April 1, 2021. He informed that Classes will be held from 7.45 am to 12.30 pm followed by midday meals. The Minister stated that the decision of half-day schools was taken following the rise in mercury levels and surge in Covid positive cases in the state. The Half-day school will only be applicable for students from class 1 to 10. Children will have lunch as usual in the afternoon after classes will conclude at 12.30 pm.
As per the Summer School Time Table for the Academic Calendar 2020-21, there will be six periods per day and the first period will commence from 8.00 am – 8.40. and the sixth and the final period is from 11.40 to 12.30 pm. Soon after the classes are completed lunch will be served to the students.
The Minister directed the teachers to take care of students when they leave the school. He urged the authorities to take steps to ensure that Covid-29 guidelines are followed in schools. The Minister directed the school authorities to conduct Covid-19 tests for students and ensure that they follow the basic protocol of wearing masks, using sanitisers, washing their hands and adhering to physical distancing norms.
