Helping others during the Covid-19 crisis can help your own emotional, financial well-being particularly helping others in a crisis can be an effective way to alleviate stress and anxiety, suggested by a noted psychiatrist Dr. G. Bhagya Rao here on Sunday.
He delivered an invited special talk in a global workshop on “Stress Coping: Strategies to De-stress” organized by GITAM Deemed to be University Women Empowerment Cell. He further added that finding ways to give back during COVID-19 will help lower your own anxiety and stress, boost your mood, and give you a sense of purpose during this difficult time.
While sharing his recent observations he said that 30 % of carona patients are under mental stress because of illness, living situation and financial issues. He observed that instead of using medicines for stress-related problems one can follow a meaningful lifestyle particularly smooth behavior, consideration for others, personality development, meditation, love and compassion will give a peaceful life journey.
Delhi Ambedkar University Clinical psychiatrist Dr.Shefali Singh observed that the urgent imperative to move online is causing stress and workloads on the teaching community. She pointed that most of the teachers are struggling to balance teaching service obligations. We must create a new knowledge environment to overcome the stress levels, she added. Art of Living faculty S.Harish, GITAM Women Empowerment Cell Chairperson Prof.ChallaSurekha, Workshop Convener Dr.SwathiChikkala participated in the discussions.
