Waltair Division of East Coast Railway took several initiatives to prevent the spread of Novel Corona Virus infection among the staff. Apart from distribution of masks and hand sanitizers to the staff, intensive sanitization carried out at various railway units, offices and colonies. Further, an initiative has been taken to distribute homeopathic medicine as advised by AYUSH to all the railway staff over the Division. As a part of this move Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Shri G.Suneel Kumar distributed the homeopathic medicines to commercial staff in presence of DCM Shri Ashok Rao, ACM/PRO Shri Vijay Kumaar and ACM Shri PP Sinha at DRM office. This measure is to create awareness among the staff to improve immunity power instead of getting fear of the infection.

As per the AYUSH ministry health advisory homeopathic and unani medicines could be effective in the prevention of novel corona virus infections by developing immunity. It has recommended that homoeopathic medicine Arsenicum album 30 could be taken empty stomach daily for three days as a prophylactic medicine against the infection. The dose should be repeated after one month by following the same schedule in case the nCoV infection prevails in the community, the advisory said, adding that the same has also been advised for prevention of influenza-like illness.

Divisional Railway Manager Shri Chetan Kumar Shrivastava advised all the staff to adopt general hygienic measures for prevention of air-borne infections such as maintaining personal hygiene, washing hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, avoiding touching eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands, and avoiding close contact with people who are sick.
